Francesco Lodà, PhD, is a Maestro and international multi-champion of Historical Fencing
(HEMA), academic historian, stunt/fight coordinator and stuntman for movies and TV series.


HONORS
In regards of his accomplishment in Historical Fencing, he has been awarded from meritorious
associations of Italian Olympic Games Committee with:
- Hall of Fame of Western Martial Arts - Panathlon CONI (2021)
- Sport Merit – Sport Veteran Association CONI (2017)
In 2022, he received a Civic Merit by the Rome Metropolitan City government, for his Historical
Fencing projects for the undergraduate education.


SPORT CAREER:
As an athlete, Francesco is the world’s most rewarded Rapier fencer, reaching at international/national
events (including Longpoint, Swordfish, AimaRoma...):
- 60 GOLD, 4 Silver, 9 Bronze medals;
- 11 Italian Championships;
As head coach, he gained 90 + gold, 17 Championships, 2 Bronze medals at 2nd European Games.

As a coach and sport executive, he acts as Head coach and Commissioner for Historical Fencing
in the Italian Fencing Federation, and chairman of Armed Combat Sport in the UsAcli Sport
Promotion Association.

Founder and Head coach of Accademia Romana d’Armi SSD a RL, one of the main italian sport
association for Historical Fencing, and founded and directed AIMA, the professional union of
Italian Master at ARMS.

LECTURES, RESEARCH
An historian and comparativist, Dr. Francesco Lodà taught classes on mythology and history of
religions Università degli Studi La Sapienza (IT), social history and history of combat at the
University of Cambridge (UK), at Shippensburg University (USA) and Army War College
(USA).
In regard to Historical Fencing, he teaches as head coach at the national coaching education
programs for the Italian Fencing Federation, US Acli (2015 – present). He teaches also for the
Sonoma State University summer and winter schools, and taught fencing and gave seminars,
workshops, lectures at HEMA events all around Europe, USA, Russia, Africa (2001 – present).
Chair of Fencing, Edged Weapons, and Stunt Combat at Cinecittà Campus - RFA, he teaches the
stage combat to actors, directors, and stuntman (2016 – present).

SHOWBUSINESS
Francesco works also as Fight coordinator, Stunt coordinator, Stunt performer, Historical
consultant for TV, movies, series, advertising, sport live events and ceremony awards. He leads
the LodartAcademy, a team and a school of combat stunt performers, working alone or in
collaboration with other stunt teams. LodartAcademy recent credits include:
